Grant launches ‘Gear Up and Go’ at Salem Health

Skye Hibbard-Swanson, a health educator at Salem Health, and Sally Cook, a health educator at Marion County Health Department, had some big news to share. The Diabetes Care Collaborative of Marion and Polk Counties was recently awarded a grant by Willamette Valley Community Health. The almost $35,000 award will launch a program called “Gear Up and Go,” which aims to increase physical activity through technology among fifth-graders at two pilot schools, Hoover Elementary in Marion County and Myers Elementary in Polk County.
