Who we are: Coalition for a Healthy Oregon or COHO is an association of seven community-based Fully Capitated Health Plans or FCHPs across Oregon. In this state, 14 FCHPs serve more than 300,000 OHP members, over 60% of these are children under 18. COHO member plans serve nearly 50% of all Oregon Health Plan members.
What we do: The Coalition for a Healthy Oregon (COHO) works with providers in their communities to assure access to high-quality, cost-effective care for those most in need. COHO has a proven record of balancing the essential, dynamic elements—cost, quality and access—required to effectively serve the health care needs of OHP members.
How we do it:
- COHO plans work collaboratively to develop innovative and cost effective ways to manage the care of this vulnerable population.
- COHO provides predictable health care costs. The state pays a fixed amount each month for members’ care. COHO assumes the financial risk of caring for OHP members.
- COHO guarantees access to a full range of health care services that include physician, hospital, pharmacy, ambulance, medical equipment, home care and vision care.
- COHO improves health care through voluntary community outreach efforts.
- COHO plans design and implement quality improvement projects.
- COHO increases access by cost-effectively managing our plans: Only 8 percent of our revenue goes to administrative expenses.
